How happy are librarians with their work spaces?
Finding little discussion on the topic—especially compared to the amount of literature focused on patron spaces—Sasaki Principal Bryan Irwin, AIA, resident librarian and archivist Aliza Leventhal, and graphic designer Terri Dube conducted a survey of over 400 academic librarians to gain insight into their work environments. “The State of Academic Librarian Spaces,” completed last month, offers in-depth analyses of several pressing issues in the library field, and serves as a discussion-starter for library professionals and designers.
The report focuses on the impact of evolving pedagogical models and technology requirements on library spaces and librarian roles, the most productive desk configurations, and librarians’ thoughts on renovations and organizational changes.
