阿南特国立大学期望成为领先印度的设计学府，为五千名在学学生创造学习与生活共融的社群。大学所在地——艾哈迈达巴德——是一座古今建筑交叠、新旧元素并置的城市，顺理成章地，大学试图创造一种植根于这一独特背景的范式，并乘着全球化的浪潮向前迈进。因此，以共享工作、创新和协作为原则的总体规划方案，不仅切合21世纪的教育需求，对传统既有的空间布局、可持续发展策略和学习环境也加以尊重保留。
阿南特国立大学与另外两所小学、还有阿南特建筑学院大楼及其附属设施一同位于桑斯卡达姆校区（Sanskardham），这里正正属于发展迅速的博帕尔新区（Bopal）的一部分。在占地50公顷的校区，丰富多样的遮荫树、果园和药用植物品种遍布其中，环境优美，两个水体不但对规划现有校园大有助益，也提供了漂亮景致，让户外学习变成乐事

由于基地现有的古老大树位置集中，校园的规划框架便以此为契机缔造凝聚活力的中央绿地，方法是将九成老树和成熟的树木原地保留，其余的移植到基地的其他地方。除此之外，方案也建议种植新树，以维持并提升校区的生物多样性。
